How We Help
-
We start by gathering detailed information about your needs during our initial conversation and assessment. Understanding your living situation, what's important to you, and your goals helps us tailor a treatment plan that works for you as a whole person.
-
After a stroke or other neurological condition, setting functional, real-life goals is crucial for motivation and active participation in rehab. For example, if your goal is to improve walking, we’ll ask you to be specific—do you want to walk faster, further, with more confidence, or without a gait aid? Achieving this may involve working on muscle tightness, balance, strength, coordination, or range of motion which allows us to tailor your treatment to your needs.
-
We aim to improve your movement by addressing issues like weakness, spasticity, and sensory deficits. We help retrain movement patterns, balance, coordination, and strength which makes daily tasks easier. Through targeted exercises we promote neuroplasticity, helping your brain and spinal cord form new connections for recovery.
-
Using standardized outcome measures. This is an important aspect of our treatment planning as it is important for us to establish a baseline of your particular movement issues. We may measure things like joint range of motion, muscle strength, walking speed, or balance activities. This may help determine the course of treatment interventions but more importantly, we can use it to demonstrate your improvements!

Our clinics offer specialized equipment for neurological rehab, including the LiteGait and Guldmann bodyweight support systems for safe, fall-free standing and walking training. We also have EasyStand frames for a smooth transition from sitting to standing, helping to strengthen muscles, reduce spasticity and improve bladder function. Additionally, our Oakville clinic features a NuStep recumbent cross trainer for safe, seated aerobic exercise with adjustable resistance levels.
